Wood Look Porcelain Tile vs. Floating Vinyl Floors

Written by Design Build SWLA

If you want the look of hardwood but not the upkeep, you now have many options to choose from.

Tile and vinyl each has its own pros and cons. In a side by side comparison they are both very durable floors. While heavy furniture can cause a dent in vinyl floors, porcelain tiles can crack if installed improperly or if something heavy is dropped on it.

They are both waterproof but if flooded, vinyl must be taken up, cleaned, and put back down, whereas tile can just be cleaned.

They are both cleaned with a nonabrasive no wax floor cleaner, but grout may require scrubbing or restoration. New to the industry are sealed grouts.

They are both pet-friendly and both are offered in many styles, colors, and sizes.

Selecting a floor comes down to what works best for the family.
