Picking the Perfect Light Fixture for a Room

When it comes to lighting, think of light fixtures as the architectural jewelry of your home. Chandeliers, pendants & sconces can make a statement and give a room character.

To determine the diameter of a light fixture that is best for your room, start with the measurements of the room length and width in feet. Add the two lengths together and switch the value in feet for inches. This number would be the optimal diameter for the light fixture.

Ex:
room size is 12’x14’
add 12’+14’=26’
26 feet converted to 26 inches
26 inches is the optimal diameter

To determine the height of a light fixture to best suit your room, start with the ceiling height. Multiply the height x 2.5” to 3” per foot. Convert the value from feet to inches. This range is the optimal height for light fixture.

Ex:
height is 12’
12’ x 2.5=30’ & 12’ x 3=36’
30-36 feet converted to inches
30-36 inches is the optimal height

Now that you have an idea of what size fixture to choose, you can choose a style and finish to bring your room to life! If you have any questions or find yourself needing help, let an electric supply and lighting expert help you style your home.
