MEET THE BUILDER: CHRIS SALVADOR

Since 2003, Chris Salvador, owner of Salvador Custom Homes has been building beautiful homes across Southwest Louisiana. However, in 2018, the Salvadors took on a build that may have been the most important to date.
In November of 2017, Chris’ wife, Kim answered a phone call from St. Jude asking if they’d be interested in building the first St. Jude Dream Home in Southwest Louisiana. As they researched the St. Jude organization and their mission, “To advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment with no child being denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.” The Salvadors skepticism quickly faded and their answer was an easy one.
Chris, Kim and their daughter Kristian rolled up their sleeves and got to work rallying over 90 local vendors, suppliers and contractors all wanting to help make this “Dream Home” a reality.
Ticket sales kicked off in June and before the home had even been completed, in mid-July the tickets had sold out. Two months early. No one was more surprised than Chris Salvador, “When you start a new project in any community, you never really know how it will be received. In this case, behind this worthwhile cause- I was glad to see the community connected with the project as much as we did.”
In September of 2018, the three bedroom, three full-bath, one half-bath, with approximately 3,250 square feet of living space, almost 5,000 square foot total, two-story Dream Home was complete. It appraised around $550,000 and featured an upstairs game/media room, outdoor fireplace and kitchen, 14-foot living room ceiling and a keeping room with fireplace.
Salvador Custom Homes has constructed more than 100 homes in the last 15 years, with no end in sight. Rain or shine, day in and day out, you will see Chris out on the job site ensuring that every home he puts his name on is the best that can possibly be built.
Chris is a proud member of the Home Builders Association of SWLA where he currently serves as the Vice President on the Board of Directors and recently served as the Chair for the new SWLA Home Builders Association Office Building Project, all while he was leading the charge with the St. Jude Dream Home.
It is that same drive and dedication to excellence that keeps the Salvadors committed to their clients, this community, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the life-saving work being done there every day of the year. St. Jude not only provides their patients and families freedom from worrying about financial hardships but also allows them peace of mind to focus on treatment and recovery. And even though the paint had barely dried on the 2018 home, the Salvadors were already hard at work thinking about new plans and breaking ground on the 2019 St. Jude Dream Home.
